Thank you for visiting our website. We hope that you will find useful information among our pages and that you will be motivated to become involved with the Family Advocacy Network (FAN), a program of the Mental Health Association in Orange County.
Raising children with emotional and behavioral challenges has a profound effect on everyone in the family. It's not uncommon for parents of these wonderful children with unique needs to become isolated from the rest of their community, whether it's self-imposed or by social stigma. The world of service providers and professionals who treat mental illness are cautious when diagnosing these types of disorders in children because of the implications involved. Children with mental health disorders require a lot of attention that translates into lost work hours for the parent and an increase in health care needs and medications that are not adequately covered by insurance. The very best of marriages and relationships are often tested to the maximum when parenting a child with mental health issues. Children with these disorders typically struggle at school.
We at the FAN recognize these issues and we applaud families who are working so hard to find the right services and assistance for their children. We are here to help you on a variety of levels and we're available just a phone call away at 919.942.8083. Call a family advocate today and discover how different your family life can be.
